Position Summary:

The Tech Support Intern will provide support for various tech solutions, including troubleshooting administrative, email, Wix, Zoom, livestream, and primarily supporting the CEO. We’re looking for a true self-starter comfortable in a cross-functional environment and working autonomously and with a team.

Time Commitment:

Approximately 10-15 hours/week (Occasional weekend support as needed, however rare unless preferred), minimum of 1 term (3 months), a commitment of multiple terms preferred. Working hours are 100% virtual from home. Must be available for the Topia All Hands Meeting on Tuesdays at 6 PM Eastern Standard Time.

Essential duties, responsibilities, and projects:

  • Provide exceptional team and customer service while responding to Slack, email, and online requests for technical support.
  • Clearly identify, document, and find solutions for email integration issues, Wix support, Wix, Zoom, PC, and software infrastructure support.
  • Assist in running lives via Zoom, Streamyard, LinkedIn, and similar services.
  • Assistance in scheduling and calendar pages with Zoom integrations.
  • Supporting team email integrations (Gmail and Outlook)
  • Support computer software integration by diagnosing and troubleshooting common problems.
  • Support current project and daily tasks related to support offerings, software, and hardware upgrades, and new user setup.
  • Provide hardware and software technical support through remote communication.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical users clearly and understandably.
  • Perform necessary updates and troubleshoot issues associated with website operation.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or certification program, or a recent graduate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with PC hardware and Microsoft software.
  • Ability to show initiative in identifying and solving interesting technical problems and sharing the results with the broader organization.
  • Technical familiarity with mobile devices (iOS and Android), Microsoft platforms/products (Windows, Office, SharePoint), desktop operating systems, PCs, adapter cards, modems, and Slack preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of the technical fundamentals of the Internet.
  • Exposure to SQL.
  • Experience in or a high interest in the enterprise endpoint security space.
  • Excellent analysis and debugging skills.
  • Experience in IT or a technology-related environment, including internship, part-time, or academic/work-study experience.
  • Knowledge of variable data processing is a plus.
  • Works independently and has the ability to multitask while having excellent attention to detail.
  • A creative thinker with excellent interpersonal, communication, analytic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have an eager drive to learn, adapt, be accountable, grow into the role, and wear many IT “hats”.

Standard Intern Requirements:

  • When working, send daily and weekly report updates via Slack.
  • Our internships are 100% virtual, except for weekly or occasional meetings, special projects, marketing & sales meetings, and company events for local interns.
  • Interns are 100% responsible for working their agreed-upon start time for scheduled workdays.
  • Not checking in or sending Slack updates is considered not showing up for work.

Evaluations & Coaching:

There will be informal evaluations throughout the term and one final evaluation at the end of the program, intended to provide business coaching, feedback, and professional development.
