<p style="text-align: start;">Job Type: Part-time</p><p style="text-align: start;">Pay: From $29.00 per hour</p><p style="text-align: start;">Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week</p><p style="text-align: start;min-height: 1.7em;"></p><p style="text-align: start;">Equivity is seeking an experienced California Civil Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys handling a wide range of matters, including real property disputes, business and contract litigation, employment law, and medical or professional defense.</p><p style="text-align: start;">This position offers the opportunity to work with multiple California-based law firms, including one specializing in estate and healthcare litigation involving skilled nursing facilities and elder abuse defense. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of California civil procedure who can manage multiple cases, anticipate attorney needs, and thrive in a remote environment.</p><p style="text-align: start;"><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><p style="text-align: start;">· Case Management: Manage civil litigation cases from intake through trial and post-judgment, ensuring deadlines are met and case files remain organized and up to date.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Document Preparation and Filing: Draft, edit, and file pleadings, discovery, subpoenas, and motions in compliance with California Rules of Court and local filing rules. Coordinate e-filings and paper filings with courts across California and maintain proof of service and filing confirmations.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Discovery Support: Prepare and respond to discovery requests, track deadlines, review and summarize responses, and coordinate the collection and production of documents.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Legal Research: Conduct factual and legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or comparable tools. Prepare concise summaries for attorney review and assist with citation checking and formatting.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Trial Preparation: Assist with pretrial logistics, including exhibit lists, witness lists, jury instructions, and trial binders. Provide direct support during trial as needed.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Calendar Management: Maintain case calendars, monitor deadlines, and coordinate hearing schedules, filings, and appearance dates.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Client and Court Communication: Professionally interact with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, experts, and vendors to facilitate smooth case progress and filing coordination.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Administrative Support: Handle scheduling, document organization, scanning, filing correspondence and pleadings, and ensuring consistent workflow in compliance with firm procedures.</p><p style="text-align: start;"><strong>Why You’ll Love Working Here</strong></p><p style="text-align: start;">At Equivity, we do things differently. Experience in estate litigation, elder abuse, or healthcare defense is a plus.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Education: Bachelors degree required; Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred but not required.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Knowledge: Strong command of California Code of Civil Procedure, court rules, and e-filing procedures across state and federal courts.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Skills: Excellent writing, communication, and analytical abilities; exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research databases. Experience with Clio, One Legal, or other case management platforms preferred.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Work Style: Self-motivated, dependable, and able to balance multiple priorities independently while maintaining clear communication with supervising attorneys.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Location: Candidates based in California are strongly preferred, as occasional in-person trial support may be required.</p><p style="text-align: start;">· PC and Windows users preferred.</p><p style="text-align: start;"><strong>System Requirements:</strong></p><p style="text-align: start;">· Windows 10</p><p style="text-align: start;">· 2GHz+ processor (Intel i5/AMD equivalent or higher)</p><p style="text-align: start;">· 8GB+ RAM</p><p style="text-align: start;">· 100GB+ hard drive space</p><p style="text-align: start;">· Bitdefender, McAfee Antivirus Plus, or Symantec Norton AntiVirus Basic</p>
